September 9, 2021 Final Budget Hearing and Regular Meeting

The Board met for the Final Budget Hearing and Regular Meeting on Thursday, September 9, 2021.  Notice of the meeting was published in the Thursday, August 5, 2021 edition of The Eagle. An affidavit of publication is available in the Board Office.

Chair Belford called the Final Budget Hearing to order at: 5:52 p.m.  Cindy Lesinski, Chief Financial Officer, gave the presentation of the proposed Millage and Tentative Budget.

8. Public Hearing on the 2021-2022 Proposed Millage Levy

Chairman Belford began the public hearing for the Proposed Millage Levy and Tentataive Budget at 6:13 p.m.  She asked if there was anyone present who wished to speak on the 2021-2022 Proposed Millage Levy.  

One speaker came forward to ask where you find the budget information on the website; but did not have comments specifically to the Millage Levy.

Chair Belford asked if there was anyone that wanted to address the Board on the 2021-2022 Tentative Budget.

Ms. Lesinski read into record the recommendations for adoption of the 2021-22 Proposed Millage Levy and Tentative Budget in accordance with Florida Statute 200.065.

Approve the listed administrative staff recommendations: The reclassification/transfer of Christina D. Donohue from the position of Assistant Principal (10 month) at Andrew Jackson Middle School to the position of Assistant Principal (10 month) at Eau Gallie High School, on annual contract, effective September 10, 2021. Annual salary based on grade 24 of the Nonbargaining Salary Administration Program. The reclassification of Alicia M. Lenderman from the position of Title I Teacher at Endeavour Elementary School to the position of Interim Assistant Principal (10 month) at Endeavour Elementary School, effective September 10, 2021. Annual salary based on grade 22 of the Nonbargaining Salary Administration Program. The reclassification/transfer of Christina T. Dr. Mullins used this opportunity to express his appreciation to the men and women in our cafeterias across the district and to say that the allegations against our cafeterias not allowing students without masks to eat are unfounded.

Prior to adjournment, Chair Belford recognized General Counsel Paul Gibbs.  Mr. Gibbs notified the Board that advice is needed regarding OJCC case Pablo Burbano v. The School Board of Brevard County, Florida, Case #21-007623RLD. He suggested tha the Attorney-Client Session be held September 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.  Only the following individuals will be present:

Chair Belford recommended that the Board hold an Attorney-Client Session pursuant to Section 286.011, Florida Statutes, to discuss the pending claim.  There were no objections and Chair Belford  instructed Mr. Gibbs to schedule the Attorney-Client Session on September 17, 2021 starting at 1:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard.
