Over the course of nine sessions, Brevard Public Schools and the Brevard Federation of Teachers negotiated and came to terms on a new contract for 2022 - 23. The tentative agreement was ratified by teachers through a vote held August 15 - 19, 2022. Changes to the contract include a new minimum base salary of $48,725, pay for performance amounts of $1400 for highly effective teachers on the performance salary schedule and $1050 for all grandfathered teachers and effective teachers on the performance schedule, a supplement recognizing years of service with Brevard Public Schools, recruitment/retention bonuses for teachers at Tiered schools, and language changes for comp time, planning time and the supplement recognizing years of service. Parental leave has been increased to ten (10) days and there is an increase to insurance premiums.

Recommendation

Approve the Agreement between the School Board of Brevard County, FL (District) and the Brevard Federation of Teachers, Local 2098 (BFT) - 2022-2023.
