The 2020 Sales Surtax Plan allocated $7.6 million for computers through the six year program.  The year 1 allocation for computers (student devices) is $3,643,545. Computers have already been purchased through federal funds allocated to school districts for pandemic recovery. Educational Technology is proposing to advance and increase the funding for the modern classroom project by reallocating the year 1 funding ($3,643,545) from computers to modern classroom technology.

The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee approved this recommendation at their August 17, 2022 meeting. This recommendation was part of a broader recommendation with other components that will be considered by the School Board as part of the contracting process. A summary of questions from the ICOC meeting and detailed responses is attached for reference.

Procurement for modern classrooms will be done through previously approved technology contracts.

Approve modifying the 2020 sales surtax plan to reallocate $3,643,545 (year 1) from computers to modern classroom technology.
