Melbourne High School's IB Theatre group, approximately eight students accompanied by two BPS employees (one male and one female) are requesting approval to travel to New York City, New York to attend the ISTA TaPS - Perspectives workshop and two broadway shows on October 19-23, 2022. Students will miss two school days (Oct. 20th -21st). The group plans to depart on Wednesday, October 19th from Melbourne High School via private vehicle to Orlando International Airport then fly by commercial airline to New York City, New York and return on Sunday, October 23, 2022. Lodging will be at the Row Hotel, 800 8th Avenue, NY, NY 100036. Students are responsible for hotel costs and meals. Students in need of financial assistance can write a scholarship letter to the booster club who will assist with the need or a crowdfunding activity will be available to students who do not want to ask for a scholarship. No student will be denied participation due to lack of funds.  Registration fees include the workshop and two broadway shows paid for by the theatre internal account. Airfare will be paid by the booster club. THERE IS NO COST TO THE DISTRICT. An itinerary and event information is attached. 

Recommendation

Approve the request of Melbourne High School's IB Theatre group, approximately eight students accompanied by two BPS employees (one male and one female), to travel to New York City, New York to attend the ISTA TaPS-Perspectives workshop on October 19-23, 2022.
