Discussion

On June 5, 2023, the Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) submitted an application for the 2023-24 Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant to the Florida Department of Agriculture for the following schools: Cambridge Elementary, Endeavour Elementary, and Saturn Elementary.  As a reminder, the Board was informed of the application submittal at the May 30th, 2023, meeting.  We are pleased to report that the three schools have been selected to participate in this program which has a grant program time frame of July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024, for elementary schools.  Funding has been awarded at $135,675 and does not require a grant match.  FNS will be reviewing the resources provided by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services on guidance for operating the program.  FNS will partner with Cambridge, Endeavour, and Saturn Elementary schools to ensure all criteria for successfully operating the FFVP are met throughout the school year.

Recommendation

Accept the grant for Cambridge, Endeavour, and Saturn Elementary schools to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) for the 2023-24 school year.
