Discussion

Palm Bay Magnet High School's Girls Basketball Team, approximately fourteen students accompanied by three BPS employees (one male/two females), are requesting approval to travel to Atlanta, Georgia on January 5-6, 2024, to participate in the She Got Game Classic National Basketball Tournament. Players have an opportunity to play on a unique stage in front of college coaches from all over the country and big-time evaluators (McDonald’s All-American, Naismith, Gatorade POY, etc). These opportunities bring scholarships and elite level recognition to not only the Palm Bay Magnet High's Girls Basketball Program and Brevard Public Schools. The group plans to depart from Palm Bay Magnet High School On Friday January 5th via rental vans from an approved BPS vendor arriving in Atlanta at approximately 3:00 p.m., and return on Saturday, January 6th. Lodging will be at the Marriott Fairfield Inn in Suwannee, GA. There will be no school time missed due to the winter break schedule. Cost per student is approximately $250.00 which includes transportation, meals, and lodging. Costs will be covered by approved fundraisers. THERE IS NO COST TO THE DISTRICT. A tentative itinerary and event information is attached.
