Annual Comprehensive Occupational-Safety Inspection Report

Certified Fire Safety Inspectors of the Brevard Public School (BPS) Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) performed an unannounced annual inspection of each educational facility in the District. The EH&S Department routinely works directly with the School Principal (& Site Director), the Facilities Maintenance Department and the Facilities Planning/Projects Department to prioritize repair and modifications of discovered occupational-type safety deficiencies. Deficiencies noted at each site are re-inspected.

BPS uses the following Statutes, Administrative Codes and Industry Standards to establish a process for conducting annual comprehensive fire safety, casualty safety and sanitation inspections of each existing BPS facility.

Florida Statute 1013.12 - Casualty, Sanitation and Fire Safety Standards and Inspection of Property

Florida Administrative Code 69A-58 - Fire Safety in Educational Facilities

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Prevention Code 1 and Fire Safety Code 101.

Local/municipal fire officials were invited to assist our trained/certified fire safety inspectors during the fire safety portion of the inspection process for all school and ancillary sites.  Where the local fire department declines to participate in an inspection, a copy of the completed inspection report was provided to them.  The Principal for each school as well as a BPS Fire/Safety Inspector signed the original copy of each school's inspection report.  An electronic copy of each report (reflecting deficiencies known at the time of inspection) is attached.

A copy of the fire safety portion of the BPS reports were submitted to the State Fire Marshal's Office as required by FAC 69A-58.
