Chairman Susin and the Board held a moment of silence in honor of Mr. Steven Shenbaum, who died unexpectedly. He was with BPS Schools for 8 years in various roles, including Substitute Teacher, ESE Specialist, and most recently the ESE Support Specialist for Manatee, McNair, and Pinecrest Schools. And invited the audience to join.

Board Members and Dr. Rendell recognized various students, staff, community members and business partners and outlined the positive impact each has on Brevard Public Schools.

  • Ms. Jenkins: Merritt Island High held a Suicide Awareness Day, Surfside Elementary School
  • Ms. Campbell: Marching Band MPA, October 1, 2023, at Space Coast Jr./Sr. High, Patriot Day at Discovery Elementary
  • Mr. Trent: Administration and Staff recognized for welcoming his visits to the schools
  • Ms. Wright: Titusville Chamber of Commerce, Space Coast Jr./Sr., Second Harvest Food Bank, Brevard Schools Foundation
  • Ms. Susin: Romelia Farms Wildlife Preserve & Petting Zoo,  Life Recaptured, Mr. Balluto Rockwell Collins
  • Dr. Rendell: Edgewood Jr./Sr. High has been selected as a "Blue Ribbon School"

After the Board voted to approve the administrative recommendations, Dr. Rendell recognized administrator who was in attendance.

  • The reclassification of Carmen Elliott from the position of Literacy Coach at Sunrise Elementary School to the position of Assistant Principal (10 month) at Sunrise Elementary School, on annual contract, effective September 20, 2023.

Approve the listed administrative staff recommendation: The reclassification of Carmen Elliott from the position of Literacy Coach at Sunrise Elementary School to the position of Assistant Principal (10 month) at Sunrise Elementary School, on annual contract, effective September 20, 2023. Annual salary based on grade 22 of the Nonbargaining Salary Administration Program.
