Chairman Belford explained that the purpose of the work session was to meet with local health officials for further dicussion and understanding of the metrics being reported.  The Board wants to determine where Brevard is as a community and potential next steps. Dr. Mullins thanked everyone for attending and was grateful to Ms. Grindling  for helping to bring everyone together. He introduced the attendees.

An email was sent to the attendees earlier with questions Board members had compiled.  Chairman Belford went over each question and asked for input. Health officials offered comments to the extent possible.  Further comments, questions and discussion ensued. Important factors to consider is community transmission and that it is important not to let our "guard down" too soon.

Board consensus is to look at a 14 day trend either good or bad on the following and the Board will meet to determine next steps.

  • Hospitalizations (length of stay and severity)
  • Break down the county into north, central and south and look at community spread
  • Positivity rate per 100,000
  • Look at what is happening in surrounding counties

Ms. Campbell volunteered to keep track of that data and send to the Board.
