The Florida Department of Education released a discretionary application for capital outlay funds to improve the physical security of educational facilities.  Florida school districts and charter schools are eligible to apply for non-recurring state funds to improve the safety and security of school buildings based upon recommendation from the Florida Safe School Assessment Tool (FSSAT) Security Risk Assessment, completed by school districts in October of 2020.

The Florida Department of Education allocated funds based on the school district's 2019-2020 capital outlay full-time equivalent (FTE) student membership and 2019-2020 charter school FTE.  The total allocation for Brevard Public Schools and Brevard charter schools is $1,044,061.  There is no matching requirement.  The grant application is due at the Florida Department of Education on or before February 1, 2021.

A full copy of the grant application is available for review in the District Operations Office.
