Discussion

Section 1006.07(6), Florida Statutes, requires the school district's school safety specialist to provide recommendations to the district school superintendent and the district school board that identify strategies and activities the school board should implement in order to address the Florida Safe Schools Assessment Tool findings and improve school safety and security.

Each district school board must receive such findings and the school safety specialist's recommendations at a publicly noticed district school board meeting to provide the public an opportunity to hear the school board members discuss and take action on the findings and recommendations.

The report, as approved by the school board, must then be submitted to the Florida Department of Education Office of Safe Schools.

Recommendation

Accept the School Safety Specialist's recommendations based on review of the findings from the Brevard District - 2020-2021 Florida Safe Schools Assessment Report (FSSAT).
