October 26, 2021 School Board Workshop (Curriculum/Academic Performance Update/Boundary Changes Proposal)

The School Board of Brevard County, Florida, met for a Board Workshop on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Notice of the workshop was advertised in the Thursday, October 14, 2021 edition of The Eagle (ad #4942837).  An affidavit of publication is available in the Board office.

Jane Cline and Stephanie Soliven, Assistant Superintendents of Elementary and Secondary Leading and Learning provided detailed information to the Board. 



Time was given for questions and answers.



Board members were asked for consensus for the District working toward receiving Exemplary School District Designation from the Commissioner of Education's African American History Task Force. Board members enthusiastically agreed for Ms. Cline and Dr. Soliven to move forward.

Sue Hann, Assistant Superintendent of Facilities Services, began by introducing her team.  Karen Black and David Lindemann as well as folks they are workig with Ms. Cline and Dr. Soliven.  

Meadowlane to Discovery - ahead of future development.

Encouraging families to move from Apollo to Imperial Estates

Heritage High to Bayside - Need to closely watch for all of our schools

Campbell - for meadowlane to discovery . Are we going to have a community rep?  - Hann - no; The heritage to bayside . It makes sense. balance of the numbers.

Belford - Apollo shift - don't see any specific growth.  It is because they are closer to imperial than to apollo- double check that there are waterways that would prohibit students from getting to school.
