The purpose of the proposed revisions to the policy is to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, Florida State Board of Education Rules, Board policies, administrative rules, procedures, and guidelines. In addition, the proposed revisions promote transparency and accountability.

Alignment to HB 1069 to include objection process and limited access to materials.

· This policy is being revised to clarify the procedures regarding HB1069, and other changes in compliance with applicable Florida law. 

· Particular areas of revision include the following:  the objection process and limited access

· The District Materials Review Committee will make recommendations to the Board for final approval.

These proposed revisions do encompass the suggested language from NEOLA.


Board Policy 2521 Instructional Materials Program is currently being revised and will appear before the School Board on the dates indicated below:

  • Work Session – 10/10/23
  • Rule Development (Public Hearing) – 10/24/23
  • School Board Meeting Information – 10/24/23
  • School Board Meeting Approval – 11/14/23

Effective Date – upon approval
