The purpose of the proposed revisions to the policy is to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, Florida State Board of Education Rules, Board policies, administrative rules, procedures, and guidelines. In addition, the proposed revisions promote transparency and accountability.

• This policy is being revised to clarify the procedures regarding the selection and adoption of instructional materials, parent objection to instructional materials, and the New Worlds Reading Initiative to be in compliance with applicable Florida law.
• Particular areas of revision include the following: Parent Objection to Instructional Materials and the New Worlds Reading Initiative.
• These proposed revisions do encompass the suggested language from NEOLA.

Board Policy 2520 - Selection and Adoption of Instructional Materials is currently being revised and will appear before the School Board on the dates indicated below:
