Discussion

On August 4, 2021, the Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) submitted an application for the 2021-22 Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) grant to the Florida Department of Agriculture for the following schools: Cambridge Elementary, Endeavour Elementary and Saturn Elementary. As a reminder, the Board was informed of the application submittal at the August 24, 2021, meeting. We are pleased  to report that all three schools have been selected to participate in this program which has a grant program time frame of July 1, 2021- June 30, 2022. Funding has been awarded at $293,250 and does not require a grant match. FNS will be attending a training workshop via webinar which will cover all the requirements for operating this program. FNS will partner with Cambridge, Endeavour and Saturn Elementary schools to ensure all criteria for successfully operating the FFVP are met throughout the school year.

Recommendation

Accept the grant for Cambridge, Endeavour and Saturn Elementary schools to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) for the 2021-22 school year.
