Merritt Island High School's Band, approximately 50 students accompanied by one male BPS employee and five registered chaperones (male and female), is requesting approval to travel to Nashville, Tennessee on March 10-13, 2023. The group will attend a performance of the Nashville Symphony, see a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, and make a recording at historic Studio B. Students will have the opportunity to experience hearing professional music ensembles perform, and perform/record in a historic studio space. The group will leave from Merritt Island High School on Friday, March 10th at 6:00 a.m. via charter bus and return on Monday, March 13th at approximately 11:30 p.m. Lodging will be provided at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Nashville. Students will miss one school day (March 10th). Cost per student is approximately $1,248 and includes transportation, lodging, tickets for venues, meals, and the tour operators. Fundraisers will be provided throughout the school year to allow students to offset the cost in addition to sponsorships, and family contributions. All financial obligations and arrangements are covered by the MIHS Band Parent Association 501C3. THERE IS NO COST TO THE DISTRICT.
