The 2022-23 to 2026-27 District Facilities Work Program, often referred to as the Five-Year Work Plan, provides the Florida Department of Education with detailed data regarding the School District's projected sources of capital funds and proposed uses of those capital funds for the next five years. It also provides some long term projections for planning purposes.  A potential need for a new high school in the south part of Brevard was noted in the 10 year horizon.

The first year of the Five-Year Work Plan is based on the School District's budget for FY 2022-23.

The Five-Year Work Plan includes educational facilities impact fee funding and project schedules for five student station capacity projects and two other major capital projects. The following projects are listed on pages 9-11 of the report:

Impact Fee Funded:

• Viera High School classroom addition budgeted for construction in FY2022-2023.  
• Central area (Viera) middle school project budgeted for construction starting in FY2022-2023.
• South area elementary school (location to be determined) budgeted for design to start in FY2023-2024.
• South area elementary capacity project at West Melbourne Elementary School For Science budgeted for design to start in FY2022-2023.
• North area elementary capacity project at South Lake Elementary budgeted for construction in FY2022-2023.

Capital or Other Funding:

• Mims cafetorium project budgeted for design in FY2021-2022 and construction in FY2022-2023. 
• Transportation/maintenance facility project starting with concept planning in FY2022-2023 and working towards final design and construction in FY2023-2024.

These projects were presented at the Board Workshop on March 22, 2022.  

The Interlocal Agreement for Public School Facility Planning and School Concurrency requires transmittal to the municipalities/county at least 15 days prior to the Board meeting. The draft Five-Year Work Plan was transmitted to the municipalities/county through the Capital Outlay Committee on November 7, 2022.

Authorize the Superintendent and the Chief Financial Officer to approve and submit the 2022-23 to 2026-27 Brevard County School District Facilities Work Program to the Florida Department of Education as required by 1013.35 F.S.
