The 2021-22 school year has brought the increased challenges of starting classes right in the middle of a surge in COVID-19 cases and with a historic worker shortage across the country and district.   Brevard Public Schools has not been immune to the scarcity of available workers and that, along with COVID-19, has helped to place increased pressure on our school staff and all district employees.  Given the unique challenges facing our staff this year and not having lost instructional days to hurricanes this year, Dr. Mullins is proposing that all staff receive the full week of Thanksgiving off, November 22^nd to the 26^th. 

In order to ensure that all schools still meet statutory requirements, the end of 1^st semester will extend one additional day to January 6, 2022.  In addition, some secondary schools will need to  adjust their bell schedules to create additional instructional time within their classes.

Approve the amended 2021-2022 school calendar to reflect the addition of November 22^nd – November 24^th as a holiday for all.
