The District is working through a multi-year capital program to rubberize all high school tracks. The last two projects are Titusville High School and Palm Bay Magnet High School. These projects are funded through capital as they do not include a renewal component. The project construction schedules were coordinated with each school.

Wharton Smith, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposal in an amount not to exceed $1,438,074 for the track reconstruction and rubberization project at Palm Bay Magnet High School . The scope of work includes milling, resurfacing, rubberizing and striping the existing track, curb replacement, sidewalk replacement, drainage improvements and fencing. The cost of the project is more than expected because the track is sloped incorrectly which necessitated full reconstruction of the track as well as demolition and reconstruction of sidewalk and fencing to the visitors' side.

The scope of work also includes demolition of Portable N942 that is encroaching on the clear zone for the track. Portable N942 is connected to Portable N945 and both are used as a dressing room for the baseball team. Portable N942 was constructed in 1961 and is in poor condition. Portable N945 will remain in use and will be modified and repaired to continue use as a dressing room. Demolition of Portable N942 and renewal of Portable N945 are included in the scope of work for the track renewal project. Board approval is required for demolition of Portable N942.

The Palm Bay Magnet High School track project was designed by Gale Associates, Inc. under their continuing contract for civil engineering services.

Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $15,000. Add alternates for field events are available for funding by the school.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.

Approve the District-funded construction budget for the Palm Bay Magnet High School track renewal project in the amount of $1,453,074.

Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Wharton Smith, Inc. under their continuing contract for construction management services, for the Palm Bay Magnet High School track renewal  project in an amount not to exceed $1,438,074.

Approve the additive alternates outlined in the Guaranteed Maximum Price proposal up to $100,000 that may be funded by the school.
