Discussion

The voters approved increasing the ad valorem millage by one mill for four years to be used for increasing teacher and staff pay, funding for technical training for students, and other similar purposes to ensure student achievement and to recruit and retain teachers and staff with competitive salaries. The authorizing Resolution 2022-01 and the ballot language indicated that all expenditures would be reviewed by an independent citizens oversight committee.

The draft charter for the Independent Citizens Committee for Millage Oversight was reviewed by the School Board at the April 25, 2023 workshop. Financial Services will staff the committee.
