The purpose of the policy is to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, Florida State Board of Education Rules, Board policies, administrative rules, procedures, and guidelines. In addition, the proposed policy promotes transparency and accountability.

Summary of Proposed Policy

  • This new policy will apply to the use of any form of crowdfunding utilizing an online service or website-based platform for the financial benefit or gain of the District.
  • Through the use of personal networking, social media platforms, and other Internet-based resources, funds are solicited or raised to support a specific campaign or project.
  • The proposed policy encompasses the suggested language from NEOLA.

 

 Board Policy 6605 Crowdfunding will appear before the Board on the following dates:

  • Work Session – 4/27/2021
  • Rule Development Workshop – 5/11/2021
  • School Board Meeting Information – 5/11/2021
  • School Board Meeting Approval – 5/25/2021
  • Effective Date – upon approval
Recommendation

Hold a public hearing and approve Board Policy 6605 Crowdfunding.
