The Florida Department of Education (FDOE), Division of Career and Adult Education, is awarding multi-year grants on a competitive basis to eligible adult education single providers within the state of Florida to develop, implement and improve adult education literacy in Florida.

The Brevard Public Schools' department of Adult and Community Education is proposing a Consolidated Adult General Education grant for the Adult General Eucation (AGE) and Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE) programs. The proposal will focus on adult education and literacy activities. Brevard's 2021-2022 Consolidated Adult Eucation allocation is $572,276 for Adult General Education (AGE) and $61,794 for Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE).

The Discretionary Competitive grant's RFP (Request for Proposal) was released by the Florida Department of Education on April 28, 2021 with a due date of June 30, 2021. The initial budget/performance period runs from July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022, with possible continued funding from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.

Recommendation

Approve the development and submission of the Consolidated Adult General Education grant proposal.
