May 25, 2021 Board Workshop

Pursuant to School Board Policy 8420.02, the School Board REQUIRES ALL VISITORS TO WEAR A FACE COVERING OF THE NOSE AND MOUTH AT ALL TIMES while on school board property when attendees cannot maintain social distancing. This is inclusive of attendance at School Board meetings/workshops.

Board members met in a Board Workshop on Tuesday, May  25, 2021.  Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Eagle on Thursday, May 13, 2021.  An affidavit of publication is available in the Board Office.

Cindy Lesinski, Chief Financial Officer, began the presentation. She reviewed the district priorities which are the  guidepost for resource decisions.  She stated that the state budget and most legislation have not been approved by the Governor and are subject to his veto. The reduced enrollment and flat State funding creates a shortfall of $16.03 million dollars.  She reviewed the unfunded mandates for the 21-22 school year as well as potential revenue offsets.  Ms. Lesinski provided information on one time funding requirements which have a total cost of $22.15 million. Ms. Lesinski explained the ESSER funds and our challengesfe face managing funding reducations.  

 

Board members had varying questions and expressed their appreciation for the presentation.
