Westside Elementary and Longleaf Elementary each have a large outside air intake louver that is a constant source of water intrusion. The District engaged Construction Engineering Group under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection services (MEP) to replace the louvers and solve the water intrusion problem. The new design replaces the louver with two smaller louvers and seals the existing penetration.

Bids were requested from the District's continuing HVAC service and repair vendors (15-B-072-LU). Two bids were received and a third vendor declined to bid. The recommendation is to award both projects to the low bidder, Schwenn Services. The bid for each project is $58,839. Administration, permitting and construction administration costs are estimated at $3,500 for each project. Longleaf Elementary will be funded through capital. Westside Elementary will be funded through a combination of remaining sales surtax (approximately $50,000) and capital. 

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. 

Approve the total project budget for the replacement of the outside air louvers at Longleaf Elementary and Westside Elementary in the amount of $62,339 for each school.

Award the bid to replace the outside air louvers at Longleaf Elementary and Westside Elementary to Schwenn Services in the amount of $58,839 for each project.
