Cocoa High School's football team received an invitation to play a regular season football game against a top-rated opponent in Savannah, Georgia on October 2, 2020. This game will provide students with exposure that can generate scholarships to colleges throughout the nation.  

The Cocoa High School Football Team, 50 male students accompanied by 19 male registered volunteers/BPS employees and one female BPS employee/athletic trainer, are requesting approval to travel and participate in the game versus Benedictine Military Academy in Savannah, Georgia on Friday, October 2, 2020. Students will depart from Cocoa High School at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2nd for the event and miss four class periods. Transportation will be provided by charter buses rented through an approved BPS vendor. Coaches will insure that all student assignments are completed. Students will return on Saturday, October 3rd at approximately 3:00 a.m.

Several approved fundraisers will be held by the football program to meet all incurred costs. No student will be excluded for lack of ability to pay. This game is part of the regular season schedule.  The school will submit the contract from Benedictine Military Academy for review with the Office of Procurement and Distribution. THERE IS NO COST TO THE DISTRICT.

Recommendation

Approve the request of Cocoa High School's Football Team, 50 male students accompanied by 19 male registered volunteers/BPS employees and one female BPS employee/athletic trainer, to travel and participate in a football game versus Benedictine Military Academy in Savannah, Georgia on October 2-3, 2020.
