The Florida Department of Education's State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF) requires a biennial structural inspection of assembly seating (bleachers and grandstands). The last contracted review by a licensed structural engineer was done in October 2017, with all facilities deemed safe to use. The report did contain minor maintenance items, such as rust or loose connectors that were addressed by the Maintenance team. Although the Environmental Health and Safety team, along with the Maintenance team and school-based staff regularly note any observed deficiencies in assembly seating, the team is recommending an updated review by a licensed structural engineer. Bleacher and grandstand renewal has been programmed at several secondary sites through the sales surtax renewal program based on the internal condition assessment from 2018. This report will provide an updated structural review that can also guide investment decisions.

CDE Company has a submitted a proposal for the inspection and report under their continuing contract for structural engineering in an amount not to exceed $56,640. The work will be coordinated through the District's Environmental Health and Safety team.  The project will be funded through budgeted operating funds in Environmental Health and Safety and Plant Operations and Maintenance.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.

Approve the proposal submitted by CDE Company under their continuing contract for structural engineering services in an amount not to exceed $56,640 for the biennial inspection of assembly seating (bleachers and grandstands).
