Consent w/o Information - 03/09/2021
The sales surtax facility renewal project at Gemini Elementary School was constructed in summer 2019. Additional work is needed on the central energy plant to replace the cooling towers and upgrade the building automation system.
Wharton Smith, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) in an amount not to exceed $570,143 under their continuing contract for construction management services based on a design by TLC Engineering Solutions under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services. Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $12,000.
The project was reviewed by the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee at its August 19, 2020 meeting and recommended for funding through the 2014 sales surtax revenue over the $198 million program target. Of the $500,000 recommended allocation, $42,445 has been previously programmed for the design and preconstruction services. The balance of the project costs ($124,588) will be funded through capital.
Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard agreement template has been used, which does not require legal review.
