| Discussion The 2020 Sales Surtax program included funding for gym bleacher renewal at six schools, based on a condition assessment in 2018. Since the original assessment, several more schools have gym bleacher assemblies that are rated in failed or poor condition. The initial phase of additional bleacher renewal includes Astronaut High School, Jackson Middle School, Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School and McNair Magnet Middle School. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee recommended an additional allocation of up to $900,000 from the 2020 sales surtax revenue to fund the initial phase of additional gymnasium bleacher renewal at its December 7, 2022 meeting. Invitation to Bid (ITB) 23-498-B-LW was issued for the gym bleacher renewal at Astronaut High School, Jackson Middle School, Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School and McNair Magnet Middle School. The ITB also included outdoor seating for the Rockledge track requested by the school. One bid was received from Southeastern Surfaces and Equipment. The District's continuing bleacher contractor was not able to bid this project. The total recommended bid award for the gym bleacher renewal at Astronaut High School, Jackson Middle School, Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School and McNair Magnet Middle School is $647,526.98. A bid summary is attached. The Rockledge project will be funded through the school. The school is applying for cost share funds through the School Initiated Project match program. This part of the bid will be awarded separately if accepted by the school. A second phase Invitation to Bid for gym bleacher renewal will be issued shortly to include Satellite High School, Kennedy Middle School Madison Middle School and Hoover Middle School. Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
