Sales Surtax Allocation to Facility Renewal
Consent w/o Information - 03/07/2023
The 2020 Sales Surtax revenue has exceeded projections, which has allowed the District to manage cost escalation and add projects to the program. Program modifications are presented by staff to the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC). Typically, program changes are considered by the School Board concurrently with project construction contracts. However, the District-wide contracts for painting, carpet and flooring have already been approved by the School Board, so there will not be a separate Board action for these types of projects. Consequently, staff is requesting School Board approval of the 2020 Sales Surtax program changes relating to painting, carpet and flooring recommended for approval by the ICOC on February 22, 2022.
The summary of projects is attached. The cash flow is available to support the additional projects. This is an opportunity to deploy these resources to the schools to improve safety and the quality of the learning environment. Purchase orders will be issued shortly after Board approval to facilitate work during summer 2023.
Approve the attached list of changes to the 2020 Sales Surtax Program as recommended by the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee at its February 22, 2023 meeting.
