Discussion The structural pavilion at Discovery Elementary School is in poor condition and needs significant renewal work based on a structural engineering review. Although this project was not included in the 2020 sales surtax program, the pavilion is in poor condition and more costly than similar pavilions that have been done under the surtax program. The scop of work at Discovery Elementary is more extensive because of the following:
All of the other programmed pavilion renewal projects (6 schools and Plant Operations & Maintenance) are complete. Heard Construction, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) in an amount not to exceed $600,074.53 under their continuing contract for construction management services for the project based on a design submitted by TLC Engineering Solutions, under their continuing contract for structural engineering services. Administration and permitting costs have been previously funded through capital. Additional administration and permitting costs are estimated at $7,500. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC) will consider allocating funds ($610,000) from the 2020 sales surtax revenue for this project at its February 22, 2023 meeting. If needed, capital is also available to partially fund this project. Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard agreement template has been used which does not require legal review. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
