Discussion The Student Accommodation Plan (SAP) is an annual report detailing the existing and projected student enrollment along with analysis of the school capacities. Facilities Planning staff, in partnership with the Assistant Superintendents of Leading and Learning, school principals, and the Finance Department analyze this data and prepare the Student Accommodation Plan to ensure that adequate and appropriate facilities are available to accommodate the students and programs planned for the following school year. Additionally, the information contained in this plan aids staff in developing strategies for future school capacity needs. For the 2021-2022 school year, two attendance boundary changes were approved at the January 19, 2021 School Board Meeting. The SAP includes the expansion of the Brevard Learners Achieving Successful Transition (B.L.A.S.T.) program to Merritt Island High School with three (3) relocatable classrooms and one (1) modular bathroom facility with full utility services. Additionally, the SAP includes the expansion of the Transition and Behavioral Support (T.A.B.S.) program at South Pine Grove (South ALC) with two (2) relocatable classrooms and one (1) modular bathroom facility with full utility services. In addition, the T.A.B.S. program is expanding to a central/north location which is planned for opening during the 2021-22 school year at the Gardendale Education Center. No new facilities are required at the Gardendale Education Center. The SAP also references other capacity projects such as Mims Elementary Cafeteria Expansion, Viera High School Classroom Addition, and future elementary and middle school capacity projects that are also included in the Five Year Work Program. Section 8 of the 2021-2022 SAP has been enhanced with additional data and analysis. Graphs have been added to illustrate enrollment history and population demographics. Additional graphs illustrate Brevard traditional school enrollment compared to charter, private, and home education enrollment. | ||||||||||||||||||
