The FRC Robotics Team 801 Horsepower,approximately 15 students, accompanied by one female BPS employee and six male and female registered volunteers, are requesting approval to travel to Huntsville, Alabama to participate in the FIRST Rocket City Regional on April 6 -10, 2022, The participating students are from Edgewood Jr/Sr High School and Merritt Island High School. The group plans to depart from Merritt Island High School on Wednesday, April 6th at approximately 7:00 a.m. in vans rented from a BPS approved vendor and return on Sunday, April 10th at approximately 7:00 p.m. The competition will be held at the Von Braun Center, 700 Monroe St., Huntsville, AL. Lodging will be provided at a FIRST approved hotel closest to the event in Huntsville, AL. Students will miss three school days (April 6th, 7th, and 8th). Student cost is approximately $380 which includes transportation, lodging and food. Students may offset cost through team fundraisers such as bucket drops and car washes. Donations from Jacobs Technology, Lockheed Martin and other local sponsors will cover the remaining trip costs.  THERE IS NO COST TO THE DISTRICT. A tentative itinerary is attached.
