The Five-Year Work Program, approved by the Board on November 16, 2021, includes educational impact fee funding for a classroom addition at South Lake Elementary. The project is budgeted for design in FY2021-2022 and construction in FY2022-2023.

Florida Statutes Section 1013.45(4) allows the reuse of a prototype design. Space Coast Architects, P.A. designed the classroom addition for Longleaf Elementary that will be the prototype used for the South Lake Elementary classroom addition. 

Space Coast Architects, P.A. has submitted a proposal based on the reuse of their prototype elementary classroom addition design in an amount not to exceed $220,155. The proposal includes civil and building system subconsultants. Administration and permitting costs for this phase are estimated at $15,000. Although the classroom addition can be fully funded with educational impact fees, there may be related aspects of the project that could require capital funding such as improvements to the existing traffic circulation and outdoor play area. 

A competitive solicitation for construction manager will be initiated early in the design process. Construction is planned to start in the fall 2022, with opening scheduled for August 2023.

Board approval is required for purchase orders exceeding $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review. 

Approve the design services contract with Space Coast Architects, P.A. for the prototype design of the classroom addition at South Lake Elementary School in the amount not to exceed $220,155. 

Approve the design phase administrative budget of $15,000.
