The Board approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Ivey's Construction, Inc. for the renewal and rubberization of the track at Eau Gallie High School at the November 16, 2021 meeting. The track is under construction. An owner-directed change order, in the amount of $25,591.55, was administratively approved to add conduits under the track for irrigation and electric (for robotic mowing). This change order also includes replacing and relocating an existing yard drainage system so that it is not a future failure point for the track. 

The design called for milling and resurfacing the existing track. The initial milling revealed that the current track surface was laid on top of an existing track, which was not indicated in the pre-design core samples. The cracks in the underlying track will eventually reflect through the new track. The District and the engineer-of-record considered three options and concur that  full depth reclamation of the underlying asphalt and base material is the best choice as well as the least expensive. Ivey's Construction, Inc. has submitted Change Order #2, in the amount of $45,334.17, to mill in place approximately 8" of asphalt and base material, add limerock base, laser grade and compact as the base layer for the new asphalt. The additional cost will be funded through sales surtax (for renewal) if available and capital.

Board approval is required for change orders exceeding $50,000 (cumulative) or 10% of the initial contract amount.  The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.

Increase the total construction budget for the Eau Gallie High School track renewal and rubberization project in the amount of $70,925.72 (includes Change Orders #1 and 2).
