Discussion

The Department of Career and Technical Education is submitting grant applications for state funds for the Computer Science grants to provide professional development to support teachers in earning their state computer science certification and/or industry certification associated with an identified computer science course in the 2021-22 school year and teacher bonuses for qualified computer science teachers.  These are entitlement grants.  To expedite the receipt of these entitlement funds, the application will be signed by the Superintendent and submitted electronically to the Office of Grants Management in the Established Department Grants Management Sharefile.  The purpose of these grants is to build capacity for highly qualified computer science educators and support the efforts of educators currently teaching this in-demand career pathway through teacher bonuses.  To meet grant requirements, funds will be primarily be used to 1 - provide teacher training, 2 - provide additional hours of preparatory time for teachers, 3 - provide industry certification study materials and certifications, and 4 - provide travel to professional learning opportunities.    Copies of the 2021-22 Computer Science grant applications will be available in the Office of Career and Technical Education.
