Discussion Leading and Learning is requesting approval for the Intent to Apply for the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) four-year grant award. The deadline for submission of the finished grant is April 15, 2022. The 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) funding supports the creation of community learning centers that provide high-yield academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state standards in core academic subjects such as English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics; offers students a broad array of high-yield enrichment activities that can compliment their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children. This project also provides supplemental financial assistance for Brevard Public Schools to establish a successful partnership with community partners to provide quality after-school activities for students and support for parents of children who attend a TS&I school and who are in kindergarten through fifth grade. Using funds from this project, the identified elementary schools will become 21st Century Community Learning Centers. The Brevard Before/After School Academy will establish programs designed to use school sites during after-school hours to deliver hands-on learning experiences for 50 to 100 students at each selected site.
