The District issued a Request for Qualifications for construction management services for the New Viera Area Middle School project (RFQ 22-697-Q-DR). Four firms submitted and were shortlisted, interviewed and ranked as follows:

1. Wharton Smith, Inc.
2. WELBRO Building Corp
3. Ajax Building Corporation
4. Hedrick Brothers Construction Co., Inc.

The Selection Committee recommends that the Board award the construction management contract (RFQ 22-697-Q-DR) to Wharton Smith, Inc. as the top-ranked firm.

Wharton Smith, Inc. has submitted a preconstruction services proposal in the amount not to exceed $154,147. The scope of work includes coordination and collaboration with the District staff and the design team ( Schenkel & Shultz, Inc – Harmony Middle School Prototype - RFQ 22-270-Q-DR), subcontractor bidding, development of the Guaranteed Maximum Price and community engagement support

The requested action is to approve the recommended award, authorize the execution of the contract and approve the preconstruction services proposal. Future Board actions will consider the Guaranteed Maximum Price for construction services. The project is funded through educational impact fees. Administration and permitting costs were previously budgeted.

The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.
