The purpose of the proposed revisions to the policy is to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, Florida State Board of Education Rules, Board policies, administrative rules, procedures, and guidelines. In addition, the proposed revisions promote transparency and accountability.

• This policy is being revised to clarify the procedures regarding Controlled Open Enrollment and other changes in compliance with applicable Florida law. 
• Particular areas of revision include the following increasing the capacity of enrollment for location choice from 90% to 95%.
• These proposed revisions encompass the suggested language from NEOLA.

Board Policy 5121 Controlled Open Enrollment will appear before the School Board on the dates indicated below:

  • Work Session - 5/24/22
  • Rule Development / Public Hearing – 6/14/22
  • School Board Meeting (Information) – 6/14/22
  • School Board Meeting (Public Hearing / Approval) – 6/28/22

 

Recommendation

Hold a hearing and approve Board Policy 5121 Controlled Open Enrollment.
