At its regular meeting on April 14, 2020, the School Board of Brevard County approved Resolution 2020-01 to extend the one-half cent sales tax that is set to expire on December 31, 2020, for the limited purpose of meeting the District's administrative obligations of send the the Resolution to OPPAGA (Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability).  General Counsel sent the resolution to OPPAGA and to the Florida Department of Revenue.  The Department of Revenue reviewed the draft resolution and advised that charter sharing language should be included in the resolution as well as the ballot language. The District amended Resolution 2020-01 to comply with the Department of Revenue's request.  The amended resolution, now 2020-02, incorporates the sharing statement required by HB 7097 into the ballot summary.   

On April 28, 2020, the School Board of Brevard County approved the cause addition to 2020-02 Resolution, including submitting to OPPAGA for review with understanding that the resolution will be brought back to the Board at a later date for consideration of whether to move forward by submitting the Resolution to the Board of County Commissioners for placement on the 2020 ballot.


Approve the submission of Resolution 2020-02 to extend the half-cent sales tax set to expire on December 31, 2020 to the Board of County Commissioners by July 1, 2020 for placement on the November 2020 ballot.
