Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School - Additional Construction Management Services - SALES SURTAX
Consent w/o Information - 06/16/2020
At their January 28, 2020 meeting, the Board approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) in an amount not to exceed $1,596,555 submitted by H.J. High Construction Company for the sales surtax facility renewal project at Space Coast Jr./Sr. High School under their continuing contract for construction management services.
The elevator at the school is frequently inoperable and beyond its useful life. H.J. High Construction has submitted an owner-directed change order in an amount not to exceed $178,751 to replace the elevator.
The project will be funded through capital. Expenses may be transferred to sales surtax if resources are available and recommended by the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC). The ICOC previously approved supplemental sales surtax funding of $450,000 for this facility renewal project of which $300,000 was allocated to the project. The next ICOC meeting is scheduled for June 17, 2020.
Board approval is required for change orders over $50,000 or over 10%. The standard change order template has been used, which does not require legal review.
