Discussion

Facilities Services has several new projects under construction or in the planning stages. These projects typically require numerous utility construction, operation and maintenance easements as part of the project execution. Current easement requests include those supporting the new middle school, the cafetorium at Mims Elementary, the classroom addition at South Lake Elementary and the classroom addition at Viera High School. 

In order to facilitate continuity of construction, it is requested that the Board waive Policy 7305 to the extent it requires Board approval to authorize the Superintendent or Designee to execute utility easements relating to the construction of new projects subject to review  and approval of the easement documents by General Counsel. 

Board Policy 7305 Easements is attached for reference. 

Recommendation

Waive Policy 7305 to the extent it requires Board approval to authorize the Superintendent or Designee to execute utility easements relating to new construction projects subject to review and approval of the easement documents by General Counsel.
