The Board approved a design build contract with Wharton Smith, Inc. for educational technology and intercom renewal at Saturn Elementary in November 2022.  An administrative change order for time extension was previously approved. The project is under construction. At staff's request, Wharton Smith, Inc. submitted owner-directed change order #2 for security-related front office renovations in an amount not to exceed $83,605.16 with a time extension through August 3, 2023 and submitted owner-directed change order #3 in an mount not to exceed $48,075.93 for addressing the above-the-ceiling conditions in the media center and providing new LED lighting, ceiling grid and acoustical ceiling tile.

Administration and permitting costs have been previously budgeted. The project will be funded through facility renewal and security capital. 

Board approval is required for purchase orders/change orders over $50,000. The standard change order form has been used, which does not require legal review.

Approve the owner-directed change order #2 and change order #3 submitted by Wharton, Smith, Inc. in the total amount not to exceed $131,681.09 and increasing the contract time through August 3, 2023 under their continuing contract for design build services for technology and intercom renewal at Saturn Elementary School.
