For the past few years, the City of Satellite Beach has been working with the School Board on a project to improve the Jackson Avenue corridor and provide some improvements to DeLaura Middle School and Satellite High School.  At the July 30, 2020 School Board meeting, the Board approved an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Satellite Beach and the School Board outlined the improvements and the right-of-way transfer to the City.  The improvements to the schools included renewal of the DeLaura Middle School basketball courts including new surfacing and new basketball goals.  In addition, new perimeter security fencing was installed around the basketball courts and along Jackson Avenue.

The DeLaura Middle School basketball court project is complete and the City of Satellite Beach would like to take the next step outlined in the Interlocal Agreement.  The "Joint Use Agreement" proposed would allow public access to the basketball courts during daylight hours when there is no school in session and no school activities are planned on the basketball courts.  The fencing has been designed so that the public can enter the basketball courts directly from Jackson Avenue and no access to the school property would be neccessary.  The agreement has been discussed with the incoming principal of DeLaura Middle School.

Approve the Joint Use Agreement with the City of Satellite Beach.
