The chillers at Quest Elementary School have reached the end of their useful life and are planned for replacement in summer 2024. Renewal of the central energy plant at Quest Elementary is included in the 2020 sales surtax plan. Because of the long lead time for new chillers, the new Quest Elementary chillers should be designed and ordered within the next few months. DDC Engineering, Inc. has submitted a design proposal in the amount of $68,500 for the replacement of two chillers at Quest Elementary School under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services. 

Facilities Services is concurrently addressing a leaking chilled water pipe which is also part of the central energy plant. The initial investigation (preconstruction services) is under contract with Ivey's Construction, Inc. under their continuing contract for construction management services, with engineering support from DDC Engineering, Inc. under their continuing contract for engineering services. It is probable that the repair will require additional construction services in which case a Guaranteed Maximum Price proposal will be added to the June 13, 2023 School Board agenda. 

The central energy plant renewal project is funded through 2020 sales surtax. Administration and permitting costs for both projects are estimated at $12,000.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review. 

Approve the total project design budget for the chiller replacement project at Quest Elementary School in the amount of $80,500.

Approve the design proposal submitted by DDC Engineering, Inc. under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services in the amount of $68,500 for the chiller replacement project at Quest Elementary School.
