Discussion

The School Advisory Committee at Endeavour Elementary voted on April 25, 2023, to request approval from the School Board to move forward with the process to gather community input into the proposal to name the clinic portable Brevard Health Alliance at Endeavour Elementary.  Endeavour Elementary is Brevard’s only Community Partnership School.  One of the core partners is Brevard Health Alliance (BHA).  For several years Endeavour has transported students to medical and dental appointments at the Rockledge Brevard Health Alliance clinic.  Brevard Health Alliance secured funding through a federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant to create an on-site clinic at Endeavour Elementary to service students without the barrier of transportation.

Per Board Policy, the principal of Endeavour Elementary School requested permission from the superintendent's designee, Mrs. Jane Cline. Elementary Leading & Learning is now requesting permission of the Board for Endeavour Elementary School to proceed with the required process to gather input into the proposed dedication.

Procedure to be followed:

1. Community Meetings: The Director of Elementary Leading & Learning that supervises Endeavour Elementary School shall host up to three (3) open community meetings to be held on dates to be announced.

2. Community Input: The Director of Elementary Leading & Learning that supervises Endeavour Elementary School shall solicit input from eligible stakeholders through the use of a survey. Community input will be solicited from the following:

  • SAC of the school;
  • PTA or other parent-based organization of the school;
  • Students of the school;
  • Parents or legal guardians of students attending the school;
  • Community members within the school's attendance zone;
  • Members of the school's faculty and staff;
  • Alumni of the school; and
  • Members of the public

3. Student engagement strategies to include age-appropriate dialogue.

4. Government and Community Relations will assist Elementary Leading & Learning with strategies for increasing public awareness of the renaming process.

Recommendation

Approve Endeavour Elementary School to proceed with the required process to gather community input into the naming of the clinic portable.
