The School Board awarded a design build contract to Wharton Smith, Inc. in October 2016 for District school security following a competitive selection process (RFP #17-P-029-DR).   In order to complete the security scope of work at Creel Elementary, additional facility improvements are needed to address Building Code requirements.

Wharton Smith has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the work under their District school security contract for design build services in the amount of $397,728.  The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC) recommended the use of sales surtax revenue over $198 million in an amount up to $400,000 as a security project. A description of the project details that was provided to the ICOC is attached (confidential).

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard agreement template has been used, which does not require legal review.

Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Wharton Smith, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $397,728 under their District school security contract for design build services for facility improvements relating to Building Code compliance in support of the security project at Creel Elementary School.

Approve the use of sales surtax revenue over $198 million in the amount of $400,000 as a security project.
