The School Board approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Wharton Smith, Inc. (Wharton), under their continuing contract for construction management services, for the Merritt Island High School track renewal project in an amount not to exceed $744,149.  Additive alternates funded by others previously approved by the Board include up to $50,000 for other track amenities and field events. During construction, the school requested some additional improvements at a cost of $32,422 to be funded by the school. Change order #1 incorporates the previously approved alternates and the additional improvements requested by the school. The total change order is $78,361. The District is funding the track crossing mats at each school at a cost of $2,771. The District also funds conduit crossings ($3,501.34) to avoid damaging the track in the future. The balance is funded by Merritt Island High School. 

Board approval is required for change orders over $50,000 or over 10% of the contract amount. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.
