Discussion West Shore Jr./Sr. High School is located on Tax Parcel 27-37-28-00-4, Tax Account Number 2728393. The right of way for Nieman Avenue traverses the southwestern side of the property creating a narrow tract between Nieman Avenue and the Florida East Coast railway that is approximately 3.5 acres. The property cannot be used by the School District because of its location and narrow configuration, but may be developable. The intention is to separate this part of the parcel and offer the tract for sale. Florida Statutes allows disposal of District real property after having been recommended in an Educational Plant Survey and being officially declared unnecessary or unsuitable for educational or ancillary purposes by resolution of the Board. The attached Resolution 2022-04 authorizes the subdivision of the property to create the separate tract, stipulates that the tract is not needed for educational purposes and provides for disposal. The property is being surveyed to establish a legal description. The parent tract will remain as “used for educational purposes” in the Educational Plant Survey. The sale of the property would be through a subsequent Board action. Per the State Requirements for Educational Facilities 2014 (SREF) (adopted by Rule), proceeds from the sale would be used for capital outlay projects. | ||||||||||||||||||
