Discussion

The sales surtax renewal plan includes funding for electrical renewal at Port Malabar Elementary School. 

Ivey's Construction, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) in an amount not to exceed $592,075 under their continuing contract for construction management services for the project based on a design submitted by DDC Engineering, Inc. under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services. Administration and permitting costs have been previously budgeted.

This project is funded through 2020 sales surtax. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC) will consider allocating additional funds ($400,000) from the 2020 sales surtax revenue for this project at its February 22, 2023 meeting. Most electrical projects are exceeding the budgets recommended in the 2020 assessments. Sales surtax revenue has exceeded projections and is available to support the allocation. If needed, capital is also available to partially fund this project.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard agreement template has been used which does not require legal review. 

Recommendation

Approve the total project construction budget in the amount of $592,075 for the electrical renewal at Port Malabar Elementary School. 

Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) submitted by Ivey's Construction, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $592,075 under their continuing contract for construction management services for the electrical renewal at Port Malabar Elementary School. 

Approve an additional allocation of $400,000 from the 2020 sales surtax revenue for the electrical renewal at Port Malabar Elementary School, pending ICOC review.
