A Palm Bay Magnet High School's Debate Team member has earned the opportunity to compete at the prestigious Harvard Invitational Debate Tournament at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts on February 17-20, 2023. The one female team member will be accompanied by a female BPS employee/teacher. Travel will be by private vehicle to the Orlando International Airport on Friday, February 17th, then travel via airlines to Boston, Massachusetts returning on Monday, February 20, 2023. Student will miss two school days (February 17th and 20th). Lodging will be at the Liberty Hotel, Boston, 215 Charles St. Boston, MA 02114.  Cost per student is $2234 which includes transportation, lodging and tournament fees. Student is responsible for bulk of the cost assisted by funds raised by the speech and debate team through approved fundraisers. If she advances to elimination rounds at this tournament, she will earn one of three necessary bids to be invited to the annual Tournament of Champions in Kentucky. 

Approve the request of the Palm Bay Magnet High Schools Debate Team, one female team member accompanied by one female BPS employee/Teacher, to travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts to compete in the Harvard Invitational Debate Tournament at Harvard University on February 17-20, 2023, and if she qualifies for the elimination rounds, to travel and compete at the Tournament of Champions in Kentucky.
